Springtime Joys and New Beginnings at Sweetpea Farms

Updated: May 21

Spring has brought a wave of new life and busy days to Sweetpea Farms. After a quiet spell online, the farm has been bustling with activity, thanks to the arrival of many new babies. This season always brings a special kind of energy, filled with early mornings, tender moments, and the joyful chaos of caring for newborn animals. Here’s a closer look at what spring has meant for us this year and how we’re preparing for the upcoming BBQ season.

Welcoming New Life on the Farm

This spring, Sweetpea Farms welcomed a lively bunch of new arrivals:

  • Four baby bucklings

  • Two doelings

  • TWO litters of piglets within the last week

Each new arrival brings its own personality and energy to the farm. The goat kids are already showing their unique traits at 5 weeks old. Some are adventurous, climbing and exploring every surface they can find. Others prefer to stay close to their mothers, enjoying cuddles and nursing breaks. The piglets add a different kind of excitement with their playful, chaotic energy that fills their houses with life.

The Daily Rhythm of Spring Chores

Springtime chores have become more demanding with the increase in newborns. Our mornings start early, checking on the new moms to ensure they and their babies are warm, healthy, and feeding well. The sounds of tiny goat cries echo through the barnyard, a constant reminder of the fragile new lives we care for.

Keeping the piglets comfortable means extra bedding and careful monitoring under the heat lamps. These tasks require patience and attention, especially during late nights when we make sure everyone is safe and thriving. Despite the exhaustion, this season is deeply rewarding and reminds us why we love farm life.

Preparing for BBQ Season with Fresh Products

While caring for the babies, we’ve also been busy restocking our farm products to help everyone get ready for BBQ season. Here’s what’s back and what’s new:

  • Chicken is back in stock

  • Ground pork is available again

  • New sausage flavors are on their way

  • Our 4-pack pork chops are currently 20% off

These offerings come from animals raised with care and respect, ensuring quality and flavor for your meals. Whether you’re planning a family cookout or a casual weekend BBQ, our products are ready to bring farm-fresh taste to your table.

Why Supporting Local Farms Matters

Every purchase, share, or word of encouragement means a lot to our family. Supporting local farms like Sweetpea Farms helps sustain small-scale agriculture, promotes animal welfare, and connects communities with the source of their food. It also allows us to continue doing what we love.... raising healthy animals and sharing the fruits of our labor with you.

Looking Ahead to More Updates

We’re excited to share more stories and photos from the farm soon. The baby animals continue to grow and entertain us with their antics, and we want to bring that joy to you as well. Stay tuned for more glimpses into life at Sweetpea Farms this spring.
