Why I’m Offering Livestock Consulting, and Who It’s For

“The first supermarket supposedly appeared on the American landscape in 1946. That is not very long ago. Until then, where was all the food? Dear folks, the food was in homes, gardens, local fields, and forests. It was near kitchens, near tables, near bedsides. It was in the pantry, the cellar, the backyard.” Joel Salatin, Folks, This Ain't Normal: A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World

I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to finally share something new I’ve been quietly working on.

From the very beginning, I’ve had a dream of sharing my knowledge with others and helping aspiring farmers follow their own dreams, just like I did. I was incredibly fortunate to grow up around a farm and to have a dad with years of experience raising hogs. Because of that, getting started didn’t feel like such a huge leap for me, especially in that first year when I was simply raising food for our own family.

I know that’s not the case for everyone. Starting out can feel intimidating, overwhelming, and downright scary, especially when you’re trying to plan a lifestyle you want but don’t quite know where to begin.

While I’m still learning every day (because what is farming without learning, really?), I’ve always wanted to share my personal experiences and learning curves so others can avoid some of the small, but costly, mistakes I’ve already made.

In my very first Business Model Canvas, I wrote down a long-term goal of creating my own workshops. Farming is a lot of knowledge, a lot of moving parts, and a lot to take in, and I wanted to help make it feel a little less overwhelming.

At the end of the day, I want to be able to say I helped keep the farming community alive. So many experienced farmers are aging out and retiring, and that knowledge deserves to be shared, passed down, and carried forward.

That’s what pushed me to start small, beginning with livestock-focused consulting for beginners and hobby farmers.

This isn’t about being an “expert.” It’s about sharing real, practical experience from running a small livestock farm, helping others avoid common beginner mistakes, and giving them a solid starting point. It’s about learning together, sharing knowledge, and building confidence as we step into a new generation of farmers, many of whom are drawn to the idea of providing for their families in a rapidly changing world.

I’m just one woman with a big dream, but if I can make even a small difference in our growing community, I would consider it a win.

If you’re trying to plan livestock in a humane, manageable way and want a realistic starting point, I’d love to help.

Sessions are limited each month to keep things sustainable.

Details are now live on the website 🤍
